How to start creating a simple skin care routine?
It's no secret that having a skin care routine is essential for healthy and radiant skin, protected from daily aggressions and premature aging. But do we really need 7, 8, 10 skin care steps?
1. Start simple
A routine doesn't even have to be super complicated. If you are just starting out, start simply. You can always add more products later, as you feel more comfortable and feel that your skin benefits from something else.
Remember: the skincare routine is supposed to be a time of relaxation and well-being. If it leaves you feeling overwhelmed, and your bathroom/bedroom is full of products you don't use, then cut back a few steps.
Our advice to get started:
💧 Cleaning
This step is undoubtedly an essential one. Cleanse your skin every day, morning and night. Use a product that suits your skin's needs.
💆 hydration
Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin and has some active ingredients. Thus, you will be able to do more than hydrate, you will also be treating the skin.
☀️ Protection
Sun protection is absolutely essential! This step alone can save you a lot of money on anti-aging care, and will be much more effective in fighting the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes on your skin. Not to mention skin diseases like cancer! Just don't do it with Gwyneth Paltrow, and apply a good amount every day, on the face, neck and décolleté. Minimum three fingers of protector!
2. Think about what your skin needs, not the type of skin you think you have
That is, if your skin needs hydration, then buy nourishing products. If the skin is dull, lifeless, or has blemishes, opt for brightening products, preferably with vitamin C. So on. If you only focus on your skin type, you may be ignoring products that you would miss the most right now.
3. Give the products time to take effect!
Results do not appear immediately. Quite the opposite. The skin takes an average of 28 days to renew (ie to 'lose' the top layer, and reveal the layers of younger skin underneath). So it is normal to take at least a month to see effective results.
Adopting a minimalist skin care routine can bring results, without sensitivity, stress or irritation. Later, if you feel you need something more, start by adding a serum. And only then think about toners, scrubs, masks and eye creams. Sometimes less can even be more.
